3 Books Every Kid Should Read, According to Melinda Gates

Melinda Gates, philanthropist and mom of three, is known for being an avid reader. Both she and her husband Bill Gates often make reading recommendations they love. To celebrate her partnership with book subscription company Literati, Gates recently shared a few of her top books every kid should read.

Gates has partnered with Literati, a book subscription service on its Great Minds collection to curate a box, along with 13 other influential guest curators. The Great Minds boxes come with a selection of books picked by several curators based on kids ages and stages. This colorful, book is filled with 3D flaps and pop-ups engaging readers as they about learn it’s okay to make mistakes, in fact they should be reason to celebrate.  “Instead of getting upset when you make mistakes, try to see them as a chance to create something as special and unique as you are,” Gates said.

Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty

Young inventor Rosie spends her nights coming up with crazy creations, like helium pants, but she is afraid of failure and hides her inventions under her bed. After a visit from her great-great-aunt Rosie the Riveter she learns to embrace her ideas instead of fearing failure. “Take it from Rosie: Don’t let anything stop you from building the things you dream up!” Gates told Literati.

Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney

This classic tale is all about the endless, unconditional love that is shared between parents and babies. Gates explained that this classic book asks young readers, “How much are you loved? More than a hop, a handstand, and trip to the moon and back.”
