You know the old saying—If you want to get something important done right, ask a busy mom to do it. Well, we believe it, and we’ve rounded up 11 Atlanta moms to prove it. From work-life balance to favorite things to do in Atlanta, we guarantee you’ll pick up a few new tricks by reading about our 2016 Power Moms. Buckle your seat belts. You’re about to be inspired!

Nancy B. Westfall, Artist

Nancy B. is mom to Zelle (15) and George (13) and is a painter (when she’s not running carpool). Among her greatest accomplishments are being “disorganized, a terrible cook, temperamental (when I lose my stuff)…” and routinely rejected from her favorite publication. That’s right. You heard us. But among Nancy B.’s greatest charms is her ability to see the beauty in life’s oftentimes chaotic brushstrokes. In her imperfection, Nancy B. “has shown them (her kids) how to fail gloriously and often, but also how to keep on trucking—because happiness is not a destination nor an acceptance letter nor a perfect score. It’s a way of traveling.”

Proud Moment: Already as successful painter known for her very detailed, photo-realistic street scenes, Nancy B. worked up the courage to listen to her calling and change her style. Using the fake name “Veronica Bombossé” at first for her abstract artwork, a patron told her “You are going to be so proud of me. I finally bought another artist’s work!” That artist? It was Veronica.

Words of Wisdom: “Do your best. When you mess up, say sorry, and make it right. Be brave, and trust the universe.”
