School is back in session, football’s on the brain and you have an inexplicable hankerin’ to ride a Tilt-a-whirl. That’s right, folks, it’s Fall. Step right up and head to the fair! It’s fun for the whole family, and with three large fairs pulling into Georgia over the next month, you can work around that SEC Saturday lineup with no interference.

North Georgia State Fair
From September 19-29, the NGSF in May-etta runs at frantic pace, pumping out piles of cotton candy, thrilling adults and children on rides that range from benign to break-neck, and entertaining the masses with everything from a tiger show to a puppet show to a chainsaw artist! For the littles, be sure to hit the petting zoo and pony rides at the south entrance of the fairgrounds, and don’t forget to check out the ride height restriction guide before you go, so you don’t find yourself waiting in lines for rides that the kids can’t ride.

Gwinnett County Fair
Do your littles have starry eyes for pageant queens and prize-winning herefords? If so, the GCF, which runs from September 12-22, is for you. To complement the abundance of rides for all ages (and heights), there are a plethora of pageants to witness, from the human kind to the livestock kind. Not interested in participating in the pageants as a de facto judge? Head over to the carnival for chicken on a stick, roasted corn, and plenty of games and prizes.

Georgia-Carolina State Fair
If you’re looking for a weekend getaway with the fair your focus, load up the car and head to Augusta, where the midway rolls into town by train from October 18-22. With over 30 rides (plan ahead for height requirements), the Nojoe’s Clown Circus, an all-ages boxing tournament, and agricultural exhibits, the G-CSF sets the high bar.
