Lords of the Dance: Irish Dancing for Little Leprechauns

Trending Now

While your pint-sized ones are still too little for a pint of Guinness, they’re not too young for a round of Irish dancing. Imagine this: instead of watching those little feet stomping in protest of whatever-mama-is-asking, you could turn all that horsepower into some serious Michael Flatley-style riverdancing. Sold? You’re in luck (of the Irish, perhaps). We rounded up four, in-town spots where little leprechauns can learn to jig.

Burke Connolly Academy of Irish Dance
Offering beginner classes for kids (separated by age) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, Burke Connolly has two studios (one in Midtown, one in Virginia-Highlands) from which to choose. Turn your littles loose with a pair of Ghillies (dancing shoes) and see what they can do. The good news? Burke Connolly offers both recreational and competitive class preparations, just in case your two year old is the next Michael Flatley.

The Mulligan School of Irish Dance
This Marietta studio has been teaching Atlantans the art of the dance for thirty years, and your little can get started any Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in a beginner’s class. Dancers from the Mulligan School have performed for the Governor, the Mayor, the Archbishop, and Irish Embassy dignitaries, and dance regularly in parades and for private events. That’s right, parents. You might just be able to turn your Irish dancers into your own little pots of gold!
