Jekyll Island Old Fashioned FunIf you're in the mood for some old-fashioned family fun, kids and parents will both rejoice at the island's mini-golf, walk-up pizza window, and playground—all of which is shaded underneath the outstretched arms of live oaks draped in moss, and across the street from the Great Dunes Beach, where you'll find shaded pavilions, restrooms, and picnic areas. There are also beach horseback riding tours, a trolley, and a horse-drawn tour of the historic district, where you can check out the "cottages" and the Jekyll Island Beach Club of former members of the original, private club that first owned the island. And with miles of bike trails, there's no better way to explore the island than on two wheels. All photos courtesy of the author. What’s your favorite beach escape from Atlanta?
