If the little lady in your life is interested in creative arts, music, literature, or African-American studies, she may be in luck. To honor the one-year anniversary of Lemonade, Beyoncé announced a new scholarship program for young women “who are unafraid to think outside the box and are bold, creative, conscious and confident.” The statement on her website says four “Formation Scholars” awards are available for female college students attending Berklee College of Music, Howard University, Parsons School of Design, and Spelman College during the 2017-2018 academic year. We’re hoping this is an on-going scholarship, so our younger girls can (one day) be awarded by Queen Bey.

Entrepreneurial spirit can strike anyone, at any time, no matter their age. At just seven-years-old, first grader Kaden Newton already started his own charity organization, Mac & Cheese and Pancakes, which was founded nearly two months ago.

Because of Kaden’s hunger to feed children in his community of North Texas, Mac & Cheese and Pancakes has collected well over 24,000 “kid-friendly” and “kid-approved” food items, like (you guessed it) Mac & Cheese. That’s nearly 28,000 pounds of food collected in two months time. He’s received items from Egypt, Puerto Rico and almost every state via his Amazon Wishlist. Companies such as Amazon and Kelloggs even gave generous donations to Kaden’s cause.

Kaden was nationally awarded the 2017 KidTrepreneur of the Year Grand Prize sponsored by Barbara’s Bakery, with a grand prize, he won $10,000. When CW asked Kaden what he was going to with the money he said, “I would buy Kraft Mac & Cheese.” Nice!

Standard Homeopathic Company is recalling Hyland’s Baby Teething Tablets and Hyland’s Baby Nighttime Teething Tablets due to toxic levels of the poisonous herb belladonna. The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) warns consumers that belladonna is a serious health hazard to children and that the effects of belladonna are unpredictable. An FDA investigation found some teething tablets had much higher belladonna levels than labeled on the products.

Standard Homeopathic Company stopped making and shipping Hyland’s Baby Teething Tablets and Hyland’s Baby Nighttime Teething Tablets nationwide in October 2016. This recall ensures the removal of any possible remaining products that may be on store shelves. No other Standard Homeopathic Company/Hyland’s products are affected by this recall.

Consumers with questions regarding this recall can contact Standard Homeopathic Company by calling 1-800-991-3376 (Monday-Friday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time). Consumers should contact their physician or healthcare provider if they believe they have experienced any problems that may be related to taking or using this drug product.

As if you weren’t in love with Target already, the superstore has just launched a recycling event so you can upgrade your child’s car seat. From April 17–30, trade in a used car seat to Target stores nationwide and receive a coupon for 20% off any car seat in the store or at Target.com.

The event is in partnership with TerraCycle in hopes to keep more than 700,000 pounds of car seat materials out of landfills. The old car seats collected will be upcycled into new products.

“In honor of Earth Month, we wanted to make it easy for guests to do something positive for the planet and their communities,” says Target’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Jennifer Silberman. “We love this opportunity to give families an environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted car seats and get the new ones they need just in time for spring.”

Trade-in bins will be located either in the Baby section or near the front of the store. Guests can then locate a team member to receive the coupon.

Before she passed away last year, celebrated children’s book author Anna Dewdney left her readers an exciting gift that’ll steal your heart: a new picture book, Little Excavator. Released on June 6, Little Excavator will be the first book outside of Anna’s beloved Llama Llama series.

The new book is about the character Little Excavator. Little Excavator is eager to help at the construction site but isn’t big enough to “CHUG CHUG CHUG!” like the Dump Truck as it loads dirt, or “MOUND MOUND MOUND!” like the ‘Dozer. Fortunately, the hard-working Big Rigs find a job perfect for Little Excavator.

The book was inspired by Anna Dewdney’s experience restoring her 1820 Vermont home. Anna was discussing her concerns with the contractor over how they’d get their big machines into small confined spaces in the home. The contractor explained, “Oh, we’ll just get in a little excavator to do the job the big ones can’t do.” That’s when this book idea hit her.

Luckily, Little Excavator isn’t the last gift we have to honor Anna Dewdney’s legacy. Netflix is creating an animated Llama Llama series, with Jennifer Gardner as the voice of Mama Llama. The animated series will be released Fall 2017.
