Does your kid go “Vroom, vroom” with anything even remotely resembling a car? Do you find yourself tripping over mountains of Matchbox cars or trying to make room in your home for yet another Hot Wheels track? Well, it’s time you hit the road and take your budding racecar driver someplace where the cars are bigger than boxes and where he can learn the history behind his favorite set of wheels. Inspire your little auto aficionados at one of these car-themed destinations.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway – Indianapolis, In

If speed is what your kiddo craves, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a must-see destination. Bring a blanket and grab a spot on the first-come, first-serve viewing mounds (where kids sit free with adult admission). Or, splurge for a seat in the stands and feel the blast of engines as cars whip past you at speeds averaging 240 mph. Plan ahead and get the $25 kids club membership, which scores kids ages 2-12 special racing swag plus free admission (with paid adult ticket) and access to special events.

Pssst: Want to get up close and personal with the Indy track? When cars aren’t racing (or practicing) hop on a tour bus that will take you on a narrated lap of the 2.5 mile speedway.
