The special recipe is made each year by the Royal Pastry Chefs in the Kitchens at Buckingham Palace. The biscuits—that’s cookies to us Yanks—are perfect for eating or even hanging on your Christmas tree. The best part is they are easy to customize with frosting or other decorations, making it a perfect afternoon activity with your kids. Here’s what you’ll need: 7/8 cup (or 14 Tbsp) of self-rising flour (Pro-tip: to make your own self-rising flour, simply take 1 cup of all-purpose flour with 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.) 1 tsp of ground ginger 1 tsp of mixed spice (note that this is not the same as all spice!) 2/3 cup unsalted butter 1/2 cup of dark brown sugar 2 Tbsp granulated sugar for dusting 6 Tbsp (or 1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp) milk Icing to decorate The tasty recipe makes 10 cookies measuring 2 inches in diameter. You can get the rest of the recipe straight from the source at the Buckingham Palace blog.
