Organizing a playground meet-up or gathering at one mom’s house for a gab fest, while the babies all coo at each other is great, but why not step up your playdate game every once in a while. We came up with seven awesome themes that’ll take your baby playdate to the next level, providing new experiences for the little ones, amazing photo opps and inspiring you to break out of your every day routine. But don’t worry if you think planning an elaborate playdate is out of the question when parenting a baby, our ideas are collaborative, so every mom in the group pitches in to bring some of the fun. Happy playing!

Set Up Tummy Time Stations

Perfect for pre-crawlers, you can set up your living room or playroom for an hour of tummy time fun. Ask every mom to bring a nursing pillow or other type of support pillow and a blanket. Before they arrive, gather interesting toys or sensory items in your house - think a pile of small plush animals, a muffin tin filled with different items in each hole (LEGO DUPLO blocks, musical shaker eggs, etc.), touch-and-feel books and so on. Check out Can Do Kiddo for other great ideas. Then, set up the items, creating enough different "stations" for each baby. When the babies arrive, you can have them play at a station for a set number of minutes (whatever is appropriate for their age and ability) and then rotate to another. Why it's a Winner: For any babies who are tummy time haters - logging on-the-belly hours with a group of little friends can be a good distraction that'll keep them happy, longer.
Photo: Chris Michaels via Flickr
fuck
