Play mats. Your kids love them, but the primary color schemes and chunky materials don’t quite jive with your decor plans. Meet Camp Castle, the brand-new line of play mats that offer the perfect balance of style and function, plus hours of imaginary play. Keep reading to get the scoop on the hot and new playtime accessory that’s so fab, you’ll want to leave it on display when the day is over.

What It Is

Graphic designer and mom of two Hayley Castle looked around for a design-savvy play mat to keep up with her boys’ supply of mini cars and trucks, but couldn’t find anything that didn’t scream preschool classroom. So she designed her own.

Camp Castle play mats will be offered in five designs: Texas, Rainbow Land, Classic City, a Farm and Race Track, but there are plans in the works to create multiple cities and states too. Each mat has adorably intricate details—from mermaid lagoon in Rainbow Land to the skyline of Big D in Texas—that’ll keep kids busy for hours. And, each landmark comes with an identifiable symbol for your tiniest players who can’t read quite yet.

Parent-approved details include being made from a sturdy, wipeable, waterproof vinyl that can hold up in high-traffic areas, grippy backing to prevent slides, rounded corners for a clean, finished look, and easy roll-up capabilities. Plus, the mat is only 2.85mm thick—as tall as two pennies stacked.

The Fine Print

Mini play mats (12×16″) will start at $25, and you can choose from four designs: Classic City, Race Track, Rainbow Land and a Farm.

Medium mats (43×58″) will start at $150 and are offered in Classic City, Race Track, Rainbow Land and a Texas maps.

The biggie (56×78″) will retail at $300 and comes in one awesome design—a bigger, better version of the Classic City, with over 10 extra landmarks to explore!

We aren’t the only ones who love these adorable new play mats. Camp Castle’s Kickstarter launched on August 7th, and the project was 150% funded in just three hours.

Projected delivery date: December 2017.
