Netflix just released its first Carmen Sandiego trailer and we can’t wait for the first season to drop! In 2017, announced a Carmen Sandiego reboot of the popular cartoon, game show and computer game from the ’80s and ’90s. The first full look is here in a new trailer and it looks like Netflix’s new animated series is absolutely everything you’d expect—and more.
Voiced by Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez, Carmen Sandiego is back, fierce trench coat, hat and all. The new series features the fan fave from decades ago in all new adventures—with a whole new spin on her origin story.
So what can you expect from the new series? The original educational video game Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? gets a major upgrade for 2019 audiences. The series will give us a look into the international criminal’s early days at the V.I.L.E. training academy for thieves. And it just gets more intriguing from there!
The animated series will drop on Jan. 18 and also stars Stranger Things‘ Finn Wolfhard. Reportedly, Rodriquez will reprise the role of Carmen Sandiego in a live-action movie, produced by the actress’s production company. There is currently no release date for the live-action feature.
