What do you get when Chicago’s kindie rock musicians pool together for a great cause? Band Together: A Chicago Kindie Sampler, an awesome new CD featuring never-before-released songs by eight local artists. Profits from the CD — and the rockin’ release concert, happening March 8 at Lincoln Hall — go to Intonation Music Workshop, an organization devoted to music education for area children. Flip through our album to see the participating musicians and how they make an impact on the Chicago kids scene.

Little Miss Ann

Her music style: Upbeat, melodic folk-rock with positive messages of individuality and empowerment for kids. Her song on Band Together: "Can You Make a Circle?" is a collaboration between Ann and children's author and illustrator Kristi Thom. Ann sent her the melody via e-mail. Kristi sent Ann lyrics for two different songs and Ann merged the two song lyrics together came up with this. This song has an indie-pop feel with some bluegrass thrown in. What's next for Little Miss Ann: Her band will play in Brooklyn on April 13 as part of the Hip Tot Music series with Suzi Shelton, along with Astrograss. Little Miss Ann will also be coming out with her fourth kids' CD, "Follow Me" funded through her successful Kickstarter campaign in October. The CD release concert will be May 17 at the Beat Kitchen.
