The Scoop on a New Local Kindie Rock CD for Charity

What do you get when Chicago’s kindie rock musicians pool together for a great cause? Band Together: A Chicago Kindie Sampler, an awesome new CD featuring never-before-released songs by eight local artists. Profits from the CD — and the rockin’ release concert, happening March 8 at Lincoln Hall — go to Intonation Music Workshop, an organization devoted to music education for area children. Flip through our album to see the participating musicians and how they make an impact on the Chicago kids scene.

Jeanie B!

Her music style: It varies from rock to country to blues to folk — and sometimes mixes them all. Jeanie love to get people up dancing, so her music is very upbeat and interactive.

Her song on Band Together: “I Dig You” was written sitting on a dock in Nashville last Memorial Day. Jeanie was starting a tour of libraries which had a theme of Dig into Reading, so she wanted to write a few songs about digging and reading. What came out was this love song/acoustic ballad, written for kids and adults.

What’s next for Jeanie B!: She is working on a new CD this year and will play lots of concerts. Her two teenage sons play bass and drums with her on the road, so she’s looking forward to some great family music time and road trip follies.
