Should we not talk about the elephant in the room? You know, the fact that summer break is quickly vanishing? Okay, we won’t mention it. What we will do is tell you these warm weather days make for the perfect opportunity to get your couch jockeys out of the house to explore. From butterflies and dinos to LEGOs and trains, we’re letting you in on some of favorite temporary exhibits and experiences in the city and ‘burbs. Click on!

Brick by Brick, MSI

MSI’s temporary exhibit, Brick by Brick, is a must-visit if you have LEGO lovers in your family. It features hands-on challenges and a collection of more than a dozen incredible LEGO-built structures, all constructed by LEGO Certified Professional and Chicago native, Adam Reed Tucker, including a 60-foot-long Golden Gate Bridge; the Hoover Dam, made with 42,000 bricks; and a 12-foot-tall Burj Khalifa.

Hours: Daily thru Sept. 4; 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Cost: Not included in general admission; general admission plus one experience, $30/adults; $20/ages 3-11; discounts available online
