Arms spread wide, eyes to the skies, spinning circles in the yard until they’re dizzy. What kid hasn’t pretended they can take flight? Clow International Airport’s Cavalcade of Planes, taking place June 2 and 3, provides an avenue to explore that wide-eyed wonder attributed to the intrigue of aviation. Read on to hear how the Cavalcade of Planes promises two days of high-flying fun in the ‘burbs.

What’s there to do?
New planes, vintage planes, military vehicles, drone demos, helicopters, refueling simulator — it’s no wonder this event attracts more than 10,000 visitors every year! Beyond just getting a line of sight on all these cool things, you’ll see them in motion with formation flying, helicopter demonstrations and even a chance to take to the skies yourself.

Reserve your ride in a piece of aviation history
Goggles. Flight suit. Leather bomber jacket. Check, check, check. Don’t forget your old-timey aviator gear to take flight in a WWII Warbird.  That’s right, Vintage Aircraft Rides will be on-hand with a North America T-6 offering rides all day Saturday and Sunday. Going up in the bird runs $250 for a 15-minute ride or $415 for 30 minutes.

How much does it cost?
General admission into this event is $5 for adults, $3 for ages 5-12 and children under 5 are free. Parking is free. Bring the green because entrance into this event is cash only.

What else does Clow’s have to offer for kids?
The Illinois Aviation Museum at Clows participates in the Young Eagles program, which has dedicated nearly 25 years to giving kids ages 8-17 their first free ride in an airplane with a mission of introducing and inspiring kids in the world of aviation. Young Eagles is available the second Saturday of the month, April through October, 9 a.m.-noon.

Circling back to the Illinois Aviation Museum! It’s a must-see for aircraft lovers. Housed in Hangar One, it’s a 6,000 square foot facility that’s home to restored and replica aircrafts and activities throughout the year.

Clow’s is also home to Charlie’s Restaurant, where kids can dig into some grub while watching planes do their thing on the daily. They’re open every day, 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
