Just because you’re only weeks away from hanging up the beach towel and flip flops doesn’t mean the fun is over. In fact, you’re going to hear the good times rolling, loud and clear, all autumn long. Kindie rock concerts are kicking into high gear — and many of them are free! Here’s what you need to check out this month and beyond.

Miss Jamie and her puppet friends take the audience on a barnyard adventure in a sing-a-long, dance-a-long show perfect for toddlers and preschool children. Her fun sense of humor and energetic style will leave everyone stompin’ their boots and hollerin’ for more.

Our hometown heroine will be making appearances at a local library and a farmer’s market this fall. Expect songs from her children’s CD, In a Heartbeat, as well as tunes from her previous two acclaimed albums. Kicking up a whirl of breezy folk-pop, Laura pulls you in with songs about big-city living, as seen through the eyes of a child. (We love when she riffs on riding the El and visiting farmers markets!).

ScribbleMonster is here for an epic dance party to get your family moving and dancing and to keep them smiling. The goofier you act, the better for this Chicago-based band known for multi-instrumental power pop that excites kids about mundane things in their world – from chocolate milk to sunshine-y days. This show is part of the Park Ridge Pumpkin Fest, which also includes pumpkin painting, pumpkin games and pumpkin giveaways.

She’ll be hitting the stage at the don’t-miss Pumpkin Flotilla at Lake Ellyn Park in Glen Ellyn: bring a pumpkin to carve (or purchase onsite), add a candle to its core and plan on setting it a’sail on the beautiful lake for a kid-friendly Halloween spectacle like no other.
