Chicago Boat, RV & Strictly Sail Show
Think lakeside beach-y fun has been on hold for the season? Think again. You might want to leave the flip flops at home, but transport yourself to sunny destinations as you roam the aisles of powerboats, sailboats, RVs, marine accessories and outdoor equipment — expert mariners are on-hand to teach the nautically-curious how to dock a boat and tie a sailing knot.

The fun isn’t limited to captains of the ship. Kids can cast a line in the Huck Finn Trout Pond, where pros teach catch-and-release techniques with live trout and for more hands-on fun, head over to the PaddleFest Pool for stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking. On Saturday and Sunday, join The Boy Scouts of America at Raingutter Regata for a little friendly competition in a sailboat version of a pinewood derby race. Kids can race a sail boat, which will be provided, down a 10-foot gutter by blowing through a straw. The first to the end wins!

New this year, be on the lookout for Captain Bill and his antics as he brings to life a crew of characters including a pirate, fisherman, Hawaiian dude, ukelele singer and yacht captain aboard his floaty boat.

Held Jan. 10-14; Wed., 2 p.m.-8 p.m.; Thurs. & Fri., 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sat., 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sun., 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
