Hear ye! Hear ye! If you have little royalty on your hands, don’t miss the excitement and head to Once Upon a Castle, the latest temporary exhibit at the Chicago Children’s Museum. It invites kids to live out their dreams of feasting like a king or rescuing a princess. Don’t miss this opportunity to bring your fair ladies and noble knights to this fantastical play space. Read on to learn more!

Dress the part.
Before venturing up the tower or heading to the medieval market, kids can take their pick of crowns, cloaks, armor and more. Hung neatly at kid height, littles will enjoy exploring the collection of costumes and choosing the perfect outfit for their fairy tale adventure.

Explore the scene.
Kids, and parents, will love the bright open space of the exhibit. The clean lines of the tower, long feasting table and elegant yet simple throne make it easy for parents to keep an eye on their children but provide plenty of opportunities for kids to explore. Once kids get over the excitement of the rope bridge and velvet throne, they’ll suddenly notice secret tunnels and a dungeon.

Create an adventure.
The costumes and space are sure to spark a child’s imagination. Your littles may start with ideas from a familiar story like Rapunzel, but before you know it, the story will be headed in a different direction. There are so many possibilities within the space, which means the fun will just keep going. If your child needs a little something extra to get started creating his or her story, the hundreds of props throughout the exhibit will do the trick. Or maybe it’ll be a wizard wandering through the market that gets the creative juices flowing.
