Our Editor’s Afternoon on Southport Avenue

In what seemed like the blink of an eye, Southport Avenue in Lakeview became the most family-friendly street in Chicago. We spent a recent afternoon there and soaked up everything from a new community market to a hidden-gem park to an out-of-this-world barbershop. Flip through our photo album to see what editor Kelly and her two five-year-olds did on their afternoon blitz. Then get out there and choose your own adventure.

Market: Low-Line Market

The day ended at the new community <a target="_blank" href="http://www.lakeviewchamber.com/ssa-27/low-line-market-.aspx&quot; target="_blank">Low-Line Market</a>. It was fun to connect with the local food purveyors, bakers and farmers that set up shop under the Southport El stop. We grabbed food for the ride home (vegan spicy avocado black bean noodles from Bot Bakery for Mom and empanadas from Tomate Fresh Kitchen for the boys). Handmade cream puffs from Puffs of Doom brought the day to a sweet finish. The market is open every Thursday from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm through September 5, and 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm from September 12 to October 17.fuck
