Chrissy Teigen’s Insecurity about Her Post-Baby Body Is Refreshingly Honest

Never one to shy away from sharing her opinion, Chrissy Teigen’s latest Instagram Story is all about post-pregnancy bodies and how her’s will never be the same. And like so many of Teigen’s IG posts, it’s one that pretty much every mom can relate to.

Teigen, who is on vacation in Bali with hubby John Legend and their two adorable kids, shared a very honest video of her bikini clad, post-pregnancy body. The post highlighted stretch marks the model and co-host of Lip Sync Battle has earned since becoming a mom to new baby Miles. “I guess these just aren’t going to go away. This is my new body,” Teigen said.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and motherhood can all take their toll on moms and their bodies. From extra pounds to sagging breasts and stretch marks, our bodies undergo a lot of physical changes—all 100 percent worth it of course—but it can still be hard to come to terms with those changes.

It can be even harder to accept that new body when women are constantly faced with seemingly perfect, air-brushed images everywhere and a pressure to “bounce back” after having kids. Teigen had something to say about that too, tweeting her opinion. “Instagram is crazy. I think it’s awesome people have killer bodies and are proud to show them off (I really do!!) but I know how hard it can be to forget what (for lack of a better word) regular ol’ bodies look like when everyone looks bonkers amazing.”

As far as having the courage to show off her own body, stretch marks and all, Teigen tweeted “also I don’t really call this ‘body confidence’ because I’m not quite there yet. I’m still super insecure. I’m just happy that I can make anyone else out there feel better about themselves!”

Props to Teigen for baring her postpartum bod—and her valid vulnerability about it—with the world.
