At PJA, we think for ourselves and work for the world. PJA offers a community characterized by respect and a challenging, engaging academic program. Our teachers cultivate life-long learners who think critically, independently and creatively. PJA’s unique curriculum integrates Jewish learning and values with S.T.E.A.M., (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) providing a foundation for success in high school, college and life. Our students benefit from Hebrew language learning, beginning in preschool and continuing through eighth grade, in addition to Spanish in middle school. Our alumni are leaders in Portland area high schools and are accepted into the country’s most prestigious colleges and universities.

Our Early Childhood Program provides a warm and stimulating environment where children cultivate a love of learning. Specialists teach enrichment classes including art, Hebrew, music, and library visits. In addition to our outstanding preschool, lower and middle schools, we also offer an infant/toddler program and after school enrichment. PJA students at all ages experience small classes; committed, skilled teachers; and an environment that is welcoming and open to all.

Since 1988, Oregon Children’s Theatre has been creating extraordinary theater for young audiences, bringing great stories to life on stage, with productions distinguished by professional polish and awe-inspiring staging.

OCT also offers educational programming, running an Acting Academy that helps young thespians gain skills and confidence. Because OCT casts age-appropriate actors—kids in kid roles; adults as adults—some of the young actors on the OCT stage come from the Acting Academy (after they audition, of course).

OCT works with schools to emphasize and enrich arts education. Every mainstage performance includes weekday matinees for schools to attend. OCT connects reading to the arts through their “Ticket to Read” program, and delivers educational performances and residencies to Oregon schools and community groups.

Each year, OCT also accepts 60 kids into their teen mentoring program, Young Professionals Company, where adolescent performers work on advanced skills with local professionals, and cut their teeth on more mature dramatic themes by producing three plays themselves in OCT’s studio theater.  Armed with this pre-professional savvy, many YP alumni have gone on to prestigious college theater programs nationwide.

With a mission to create exceptional theater experiences that transform lives, it’s clear that OCT wants to leave a lasting impression—on actors and audiences alike.

Train at Oregon Ballet Theatre School! OBT School is the official training ground of Oregon Ballet Theatre. Students receive exemplary training from our world-class faculty, emphasizing pure classical and neoclassical technique. This experience is enhanced by invaluable opportunities to perform in fully-staged productions at Keller Auditorium, alongside professional dancers of Oregon Ballet Theatre.

OBT School offers two convenient studio locations to provide excellent dance instruction: Portland and West Linn. We hold classes for students ages 3 and up. At younger levels, children use movement to discover their innate creativity in a fun environment, while developing coordination, listening skills, and musicality. As they advance, students are instructed in ballet technique in a professional environment.

OBT School’s mission is to provide the highest-quality dance training to all its students. We believe every student deserves the best instruction possible, whether or not they aspire to a career in performance.

For our children, a world of possibilities awaits. If we are to send them out to explore beyond the bounds of our neighborhoods, we must prepare them for the journey.

Welcome to The International School. For almost three decades, we’ve been helping to guide and prepare today’s generation of explorers for the challenges of tomorrow. We’re the only school in the United States to provide a true immersion experience in Chinese, Japanese, or Spanish under one roof. At least 80% of the school day is spent immersed within these vibrant languages and cultures.

We were Portland’s first International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) elementary school, which promotes strategic thinking skills and hands-on engagement, rather than memorization and passive learning. This instills a true love of learning within children, and equips them to pursue knowledge throughout life.

At the German International School, we take language learning pretty seriously for many reasons. Check out what a bilingual education can do for your child:

A second language has been shown to strengthen executive functioning of the brain which manages some of the most important aspects of day-to-day life including: attention, inhibition, and reasoning. Without it, you’d have a hard time understanding what you’re reading right now.

Learning a language is more than just memorizing translations. The Sapir–Whorf hypothesis posits that the language you speak influences your world view. A second language opens your brain to new views of the world and helps you understand others better.

Surely you’ve come across job postings that prefer bilingual individuals. Providing your children the opportunity to learn a language puts them ahead of the competition in the future – coincidentally the skill needed to plan this strategy would be strengthened by learning another language.

Don’t take it from us – Google search “benefits of bilingualism” and see what comes up. The benefits are numerous and the downsides are practically none. Visit us at to learn more about our culture and why we take language learning so seriously!

Oregon Episcopal School—Opening minds since 1869

OES students love school. The way we teach is based on the idea that children learn best through experiences that fascinate them. Officially, it’s called inquiry-based learning. In practice, it’s all about creating environments and experiences that open children up to the wonders of the world around them.

OES is a prekindergarten through grade 12 college preparatory, independent school with approximately 870 students. We are committed to small classes in a collaborative, project-based learning environment. Our beautiful 59-acre campus provides the perfect setting for open minds to inquire, explore, and grow in order to succeed in an ever-changing global community.
