Psychologists Say It May Make You Happier Explore: Bradner Gardens Park Mount Baker Ridge’s hidden gem park has to be Bradner Gardens Park. It’s a community garden that will delight the littles in the dichotomy of its diminutive size and larger-than-life details. The whole garden is 1.6 acres, and it’s wrought with veggies, flowers and the like. There’s a cute children’s area with colorful stepping stones in an ‘A- to Z garden’. Take a pretend ride on the old red tractor with a carved wood engine, or bring chalk to draw on the basketball court (which has a mini hoop as well as a regular sized hoop). Walk through paths scented with honeysuckle and play a game of I-spy. Where’s the funky windmill? (Next to the learning center). Where’s the red suspender-wearing scarecrow? (In one of the contained gardens.) Where’s the green jelly shoe? (Attached to a water spout.) You can bring snacks to share at picnic tables under the gazebo. Or, if you’re feeling really adventurous and caffeine-neglected, head a few blocks east to 31st Ave. for café and a yummy treat at Sweet and Savory, which is right around the corner from the Seattle campus of Sponge, in the event you feel the need to brush up on your French or Mandarin.
