Summer is in full swing in Greenwood, a growing Seattle neighborhood located off of North 85th Street and Greenwood Avenue North. Start your day at Greenwood Park , which features a play area for the kids to run around and a trail perfect for the little one’s to ride tricycles and kick a ball around. Cool down at the Green Bean Coffee , a nonprofit coffee house full of refreshing Italian Sodas, espresso or an array of teas, quiche and deserts. When you are done refueling the kiddies, hop over to Top Ten Toys and peruse their selection of educational, multicultural and wood toys.

If you are looking for an event to unwind with, it is story time every Thursday at the Greenwood Library . Two sections of story time are available, with toddler time at 10:30am and preschool story time at 11:15am. End your day with a bit of futuristic space travel at the Greenwood Space Travel Supply Company , which features fun for you and the kids! Pick up a Li’l Baby Sputnik Li’l Traveling Uniform for the kid and wacky items like the Space Vehicle Hull Repair Patch or publications written by local teens from John Marshal High School and Hamilton International Middle School. All proceeds benefit 826 Seattle , a nonprofit writing center that helps kids develop their writing skills.
