What Does Kaavia Mean? Gabrielle Union & Dwayne Wade Reveal Their Baby Girl’s Name

It looks like new parents Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade have finally revealed their long-awaited beautiful baby daughter’s name. And now we’re all left wondering, what does the name Kaavia mean?

Wade recently revealed his new daughter’s name by posting a pic on Instagram of his shoulder tattoos. One of the proud dad’s shoulders reads “Kaavia” and the other reads “James.” The Miami Heat basketball star added the caption, “#TBT Goes back to that one night in China when i decided to get my daughters name tattooed on me. Kaavia James Union Wade! #paternityleave.”

So how did the couple choose their baby’s name and what does it mean? Both Wade and Union got plenty of questions about their creative name choice on IG. While they haven’t opened up about why they chose their daughter’s first name, we do know that Kaavia is an Indian name for “full of imagination,” according to moonastro.com, an Indian moon sign astrology website.

But it seems like the IG-verse pretty much focused on baby Union Wade’s middle name, James. Plenty of those questions on Instagram focused on whether the couple chose James because of…um, LeBron. No, that’s not the case—not at all.

Union responded to commenters’ questions about her baby’s middle name by posting, “We wanted my family represented in her name. My godfather is my Uncle James Glass. She is named after him..and then Union…thats…ya know…me.”

Now that’s a name to live up to! Congrats to the whole family.
