Stack the Countries

Great for visual thinkers, this engaging app quizzes players’ knowledge of countries based on their shapes, then lets them arrange the pieces they’ve collected like a puzzle on a continental map. Players collect country pieces by learning about capitals, landmarks, geographic locations and more, and carefully build a stack of countries to reach a checkered line to win each level. Think Tetris on a global scale. A set of country flashcards and interactive maps of continents let players brush up on their global geography before they play. While the object of gameplay is to collect all 193 countries (and unlock two additional free bonus games), the real fun is realizing how interconnected the entire world is. There’s also a U.S. states version of the app.

Good for: Ages 6 & up

Lite version is free, full version is $1.99, both on iTunes
