If you worry about your little web surfer stumbling into something she shouldn’t online — or downloading heaps of malware without knowing it, send her over to Google’s newest offering, an online game for kids that teaches them how to “make smart decisions online.”

Google’s Be Internet Awesome is a program designed to help kids navigate the internet safely. Its lessons include everything from whom to trust, how to keep information private and why cyberbullying is just as bad as the in-person kind. The program was designed with the help of teachers and online safety experts — and includes an online learning game for kids, a 48-page curriculum for teachers and schools and a video series for parents to watch alongside their children.

Of course, to keep kids entertained, this sort of learning has come in the form of a (web-based) game. And so the key feature of “Be Internet Awesome” is a game called “Interland.” In it, kids can choose between four mini-games, each designed as its own colorful realm:

Mindful Mountain is designed to teach kids that they need to be careful sharing their information (as well as whom they share it with).

The Tower of Treasure is designed to help teach younger internet users how to create passwords strong enough to outwit the hackers.

Reality River gives kids multiple choice questions to help them figure out who and what to trust online.

Kind Kingdom educates children on trolling and teaches them how to be nice on the internet.
