Inquiry and Exploration at OES

The OES curriculum is rooted in inquiry and exploration, with students (Pre-K through Grade 12) engaging deeply in hands-on, discussion-based, project-oriented learning inside and outside the classroom. Students receive a solid academic foundation in core subjects and benefit from small class sizes where everyone is known and appreciated as an individual. Whether in academics, music, art, world languages, or athletics, students take an active, empowered role in their education.

Time is intentionally set aside for regular gathering and reflection to consider the world beyond our campus. We educate toward a larger purpose: inclusion and respect, understanding and compassion, service and social justice, meaning and commitment.

Our 59-acre campus in Southwest Portland includes wetlands, nature trails, and athletic fields where students can explore and play. Learn more about OES at and sign up for Open House.
