Avenues: The World School is one school with many campuses that graduates students poised to become future world-wise leaders uniquely equipped to understand and solve global-scale problems.

Language immersion is a key part to setting this foundation. It’s only from ages 2–6 that kids soak up language like a sponge. At Avenues, we don’t teach Chinese or Spanish; we teach in Chinese or Spanish. From nursery–5th grade, students spend 50% of their time learning in English and 50% learning in a second language: one day in English, one day in Chinese or Spanish, and so on.

In the Small World program for 2-year-olds, children are exposed to all three languages, in preparation for formal immersion in nursery.

The IDEAL School of Manhattan is New York’s only K-12+ independent inclusion school. Our mission is to affirm and accept the full identities of all people while inspiring academic excellence, creative leadership, and a desire to build a more just and equitable world.

The school’s core principles are Inclusion, Diversity, Excellence, Acceptance, and Leadership. Every aspect of the IDEAL experience–instruction, assessment, program, enrichment–reflects a research-based commitment to inclusion education as a means for academic excellence.

Our exceptional academic program is based on the belief that students learn best when we set a high bar and scaffold the path to achievement through differentiation. Lower School (K-5) classes are co-taught by a general educator and a learning specialist. Middle School (6-8) classes cultivate lifelong learning skills. High School (9-12) is uniquely student-driven, flexible, and inclusive. Next Steps is a postsecondary transition program for students who would benefit from an alternative or ramp to college that supports each student’s continued progress and builds real-world living skills.

Our Practically Preschool program is designed to be an introduction to the experience of school. As a “bridge” to preschool, our enriching playgroup approach provides a setting for children to explore, learn, and grow. Our small class sizes (maximum of 6-8 children) provide an intimate setting in which to explore the world of the classroom. Our program uses a stepping up approach to help transition children between the three levels in our program. This subtle transition allows the children to feel comfortable and supported while the role of the parent/caregiver slowly diminishes, giving the child the opportunity to gain greater social and emotional confidence. Our teachers offer a nurturing environment with a routine that gives children the confidence to know what is coming next, and allows them to focus on learning something new.

All our staff are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. We continue to implement some additional Covid-19 precautions, such as: filtered air in the classroom; requiring masks for adults (and preferred for children over 2 who will wear them); ample space in the center for physical distancing; maximum of 6-8 students in each class; snacks provided with individual, disposable supplies.

For parents, back-to-school season is more than just shopping for school supplies and new clothes. It’s about setting your child up for success in the upcoming school year. Many things can impact your child’s academic performance—from the foods they eat to the friends that they make. Did you also know the air they breathe can affect their success in school? Poor air quality may cause health problems like fatigue, headaches, allergic reactions, and other types of irritation that can detract from your kiddo’s ability to focus on learning.

The good news is that improving the quality of the air that your child breathes is not as out of reach as you may think. Molekule air purifiers don’t just collect indoor air pollutants, they destroy them. In fact, Molekule’s Air Mini and Air Mini+ purifiers are even FDA-cleared for medical use to destroy viruses and bacteria. While you can’t control the indoor air quality in your kids’ schools,Molekule air purifiers can help improve the air they breathe at home while they make their way to the head of the class.
