14 Magical Ways to Celebrate the Holidays at Disneyland

It’s time to celebrate the holidays at Disneyland! The Happiest Place on Earth celebrates this special time of year starting Nov. 9 through Jan. 6, 2019 with special performances, gorgeous decor, Disney-themed treats and seasonal ride overlays.

Park-goers can expect to find holiday cheer all throughout the Disneyland Resort, from Downtown Disney and of course Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park. Bundle up and be sure to catch the “Believe in Holiday Magic” fireworks show and the Disney Festival of Holidays. Keep reading to see all the magic coming to Disneyland this season!

Disneyland Park

1. As you enter Disneyland, guests can’t help but notice the 60-foot tall Christmas tree in Town Square on Main Street, U.S.A. New this year, the tree includes updating lighting and décor, with 3,500 multi-color lights, 1,500 Victorian-inspired ornaments and 100 faux candles ranging from 12 to 22 inches tall.

2. Sleeping Beauty’s Castle has been transformed into the Winter Castle with beautiful lights and shimmering icicles.

3. Stick around for the festive “Believe in Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular and the delightful snowfall (the only kind you’ll get in SoCal!)

4. Catch a prime seat on Main Street and watch “A Christmas Fantasy” Parade with Mickey, Minnie, Disney Princesses and Santa Claus.

5. Don’t miss the iconic transformation when “it’s a small world” becomes “it’s a small world” Holiday, which celebrates children around the world enjoying the unique holiday traditions of their countries.

6. The Haunted Mansion becomes Haunted Mansion Holiday, where the gang from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” combine their love of Christmas and Halloween.

Disney California Adventure Park

1. Check out the Festival of Holidays, which honors the traditions of Christmas, Navidad, Hanukkah, Diwali, Kwanzaa and Three Kings Day, and is celebrated at Disney for an additional two days, running through Jan. 8, 2019. Special entertainment and delicious food can be found at the Festive Foods Marketplace, that includes holiday dishes and drinks from diverse cultures.

2. Celebrate with the Three Caballeros, who will host the “Disney ¡Viva Navidad!” street party celebration, which includes folklórico and samba dancers, live musicians and Mickey and Minnie.

3. Princess Elena of Avalor and her friend Skylar perform in Princess Elena’s Musical Grand Arrival, a show about the joy of the holidays.

4. Cars Land is decked out for the holidays! Check out Flo’s V8 Café, Fillmore’s Taste-In, Cozy Cone Motel, Luigi’s Casa della Tires and more, where each address reflects the unique personality of each Cars character.

5. There will also be special holiday-themed activities with Santa Claus and his sleigh of elves at Santa’s Holiday Visit at the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail through Dec. 24. From Dec. 25 through Jan. 6, you may also catch Goofy here, too!

6. You may catch a snowfall and other wintery delights as you walk through the Grizzly Peak area.

7. You can’t miss the 50-foot Christmas tree in the middle of Carthay Circle on Buena Vista Street. Inspired by Los Angeles in the 1902’s, the tree and adjacent buildings are decorated with vintage-style ornaments.

Downtown Disney District

Enjoy the shimmery lights and ornaments on display through the Downtown Disney District while you shop, dine check out the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort. Be sure to check out the huge holiday section at the new World of Disney. Guests will be treated to holiday displays, special entertainment and holiday-inspired food and drink.
