How to Get the Nintendo NES Classic Edition Console Re-Release

Earlier this month, Nintendo dropped the news that gamer parents and their kids have been waiting for since last year: the NES Classic Edition console is coming back! The popular mini console, with its classic controller and pre-loaded with 30 games, sold out in November last year, well before the winter holidays.

First, the bad news: sorry gamer dads—looks like you’ll be out of luck if you’re expecting the NES Classic Console re-release for a Father’s Day gift. The NES Classic Console re-release will be available on Jun. 29, according to the NES Classic Edition product page at the Nintendo website.

Much like its initial release, you can expect the demand for the NES Classic Edition to be high—even so, Nintendo assured fans in a tweet that both it and the SNES Classic Edition “are expected to be available through the end of the year,” the company said in a tweet.

So how can you score of these cherished retro game consoles? Just like the SNES Classic Edition, you should be able to buy the NES Classic online at Amazon, as well as at major retail stores such as Target, Walmart, Best Buy and GameStop (no word yet if they’ll be releasing limited quantities to brick-and-mortar stores).

For now, Nintendo fans will just have to set a reminder for themselves for Jun. 28 when the NES Classic Edition console hits stores once more.
