The first animated movie of the summer is just opening today, June 15 and it is already smashing records. If you were hoping to see the new Pixar movie this weekend, you’d better get your tickets fast because the Incredibles 2 pre-sales are already through the roof.

Online ticket retailer Fandango reports that Disney-Pixar’s Incredibles 2 is breaking records in animated pre-sales. It is now the company’s top pre-sale animated film to date. The previous record was held by 2016’s Finding Dory. It’s clear that Pixar movies are highly anticipated and with a summer slate of blockbusters that only includes a small handful of animated family films, it’s no surprise that the Incredibles 2 is already making waves at the box office.

If the pre-sales weren’t enough proof that this is sure to be the hottest movie of the summer, Thursday’s preview screenings of Incredibles 2 also smashed records, with $18.5 million in sales according to Variety, making it the highest preview box-office record for any animated film. The previous record was also held by Finding Dory.

It has been 14 years since the original film brought the family of superheroes to life and parents are excited to share the sequel with a new generation of movie-watchers. According to a survey conducted by Fandango, 85 percent of those who pre-purchased tickets have seen the first film more than once and 75 percent saw it on the big screen.

“Fans have been waiting a long time for the return of one of our favorite screen families, and the latest Pixar offering is primed for heavy repeat business throughout the summer,” Erik Davis, Fandango managing editor told Variety.
