Your wanna-be B.B. King keeps creating riffs while your little Quest Love is keeping the beat. Good news! Your kids love music as much as you do, and they aren’t the only ones tuning in. From a musical prodigy to a second grader whose lyrics really flow, flip through our album below to check out a group of incredible (and musical) kids that move to the beat of their own drum.

Unlocking the Truth

Unlocking the Truth is a teen heavy metal band based in Brooklyn, Ny. Bandmates Malcolm and Jarad have been friends since they were toddlers. They’ve been everything from ninjas to wrestlers and superheroes, and then one day, a band! Jarad was always drawn to the drums (his mother claims he played while in utero), and Malcolm discovered a love of music at a young age as well. After he turned five, Malcolm had a keyboard, was taking piano lessons, and convinced his mother to buy him an electric guitar. By seven, Malcolm and Jarad had hustled their parents for the right gear, and had turned Malcolm's basement into imaginary tours and performances. The band needed one more member and so, around age 12, Jarad and Malcolm taught their friend Alex how to play bass from scratch, and Unlocking the Truth was born!

The band is no stranger to the world of music. Their Times Square performances gained major traction on YouTube, they played the 2014 Coachella Music Festival in Indio, Ca (and got to crowdsurf!), rocked out at SxSW, jammed at the 2014 Vans Warped tour, and performed at the 2014 Heavy Montreal Festival as personal guests of metal legend Metallica, and at high-profile festival Bonnaroo.

Unlocking the Truth released their full-length album Chaos, in June 2016. Currently the boys are working on their second album (eight songs and counting!) in between studying for high school regents exams. According to mom-manager Annette, they can’t wait to get back into the studio to record and to get back on the road to tour.
