Working from home kind of sounds like a dream. Right? After all, you get to cut out daycare costs and you’ll be there for your kiddos 24-7. Okay, so it doesn’t exactly work like that. Working from home means that you actually have to do your job — minus the rush hour traffic. Whether you’re already a WAHM or you’re thinking of joining the work-at-home mom workforce, take a look at what you need to know and where you might want to consider working.

Telecommuting is kind of the future of the workplace. In 2012, 39% of employees worked remotely at least some of the time, according to a Gallup poll on the subject. By 2016, that stat rose to 43%. Even though it’s not a major increase, it does show a trend towards working from home.

And why not work from home? Between answering emails from your smartphone and logging into your co-worker’s Google doc from your living room, it’s totally easy to not go into the office.

So, where should you start your WAH career search? Gallup’s 2016 data shows that most industries are seeing an increase in remote work. But those that have the greatest growth in hiring or letting employees work from home are real estate, finance and insurance.
