Whether or not you believe Los Angeles lives up to its “city of angels” nickname, the busy metropolis does boast some pretty heavenly qualities. Not to mention a beloved baseball team with a holier than thou moniker: the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and an annual Angel Festival now in its 19th year! If you’re looking for a celestial fix where all things angelic abound — at least for one fine day — the 19th Annual Angel Festival is just the ticket. Gather your little cherubs and head to this fall event where spirits soar and angels really know how to wing-it.

When to go: Saturday, October 6th, 2012 from 11:00am-4:00pm.

Admission, Getting There & Parking: Appropriately enough, the Angel Festival is free! It is held at Memorial Park at 222 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, Ca 91024. Prepare to find street parking in the nearby vicinity of Memorial Park.

Angelic Perks: Attend the Angel Festival dressed-up in an angel costume, and you’ll receive a $5 coupon that is redeemable at any festival booth. And if your name happens to be “Angel,” it’s your lucky day! You’ll receive a free angel book upon entry. (ID required)

The Early Angel Gets The Goody Bag: The first 200 festival attendees to “fly by” will receive a free goody bag filled with angel books, individual packages of angel food cake and any of a variety of angel themed surprises from angel jewelry, Angels baseball memorabilia and angel greeting cards to Angel Soft toilet paper.

What To Do At The Festival:
There will be plenty of booths to peruse which will boast angelic wares: angel arts & crafts, angel T-shirts, angel paintings, angel embroidery, angel cards, angel books, incense, angel bags, angel pillows, crystals, angel figurines, angel ornaments, angel toys, DVDs, CDs, statues, wind chimes and more!

Kid’s Kraft Korner will provide supplies for kids to make angel wings, halos, pictures, and an assortment of angel themed arts and crafts.

To provide fitting melodic tunes to fill the air, the Second Strings Orchestra will perform at the festival at 12 noon.

And don’t miss Story Theatre with Victoria Goring, who will be performing twice at the festival at 1:00pm and 3:00pm. Goring creates new stories on the spot from children’s suggestions, and her engaging and lively performances are sure to be a highlight.

Where To Eat/What To Bring: Tote your own cooler filled with snacks or lunch, and bring along a blanket, and/or lawn chairs so you can give your wings a rest and sit and enjoy listening to the orchestra or watching the children’s theater performance.

Fido Can Fly In Too: Dogs on a leash are welcome to attend the festival… as long as they act like angels!
