5 Bagel Shops You Can Really Sink Your Teeth Into

According to more than a few East Coasters, you’ve never really had a bagel until you’ve had a real Brooklyn bagel. We’re talking about the kind of bagels that are toothy on the outside and doughy on the inside. Well, you don’t necessarily have to take a trip to New York to hunt down a great bagel.  You can get one right here in Southern California, and we’re happy to help you navigate this doughy terrain. So allow us to take you on a trip down bagel lane.

The Bagel Broker
Family owned and operated, the Bagel Broker offers a variety of bagels and spreads.  These guys know their bagels. They also know spreads and offer a fantastic variety of sweet and salty, so there’s something to please every little palate.  Also, you get 2 bagels for free with the purchase of a dozen. Who doesn’t like free?

Parent perk: You can phone in your order in advance and your order will be waiting for you when you arrive.  No waiting in line with impatient kids.

Brooklyn Water Bagels
From broadcast to bagels? That’s right. Former CNN Talk Show Host, Larry King has traded in his suspenders for a Brooklyn Water Bagel uniform serving as Brooklyn Water Bagels’ spokesperson. If Larry King likes this bagel, we were willing to give it a try, and it didn’t disappoint. Brooklyn Water Bagels believes in the legend that New York bagels are delicious because of the local tap water. So, they invented “Brooklynized” water.  See if you can taste the difference.

Parent perk: Your bagel comes with a side of entertainment.  While you wait for your bagel to get toasted or spread, scoot the kids over to the window to watch the bagels rise, slide into hot ovens, and pop off the pans.  Somehow, it never gets old.

Brooklyn Water Bagels has locations in Beverly Hills and at USC.  See website for details.
