Here’s How to Get One from Krispy Kreme The kids get to go to camp… but why don’t we? And not family camp (though this one is amazing) where you are with your kids, but camp where parents get to do arts & crafts, sports, hang out with friends, eat endlessly and have a fabulous time, without a care in the world. While it might not be possible to check out of your life & responsibilities for a whole week, here’s how you can create a camp experience for yourself, one activity at a time. Hit the TrailsGo back to nature! If you get some time to yourself, there are a myriad of amazing hikes in the city, and you can choose a hike of any length and steepness, depending on how much time you have. For city views, hit the trails in Griffith Park (you can start at the Observatory). For ocean vistas, we love hiking along the Santa Monica Mountain Range (try parking at Will Rogers State Park and hiking along the Backbone Trail for as long as you like). And for losing yourself in the woods, we love the San Gabriel Mountains (park at Monrovia Canyon Park or the Chantry Flat Picnic Area, and take any of the trails). If your kids aren’t in camp and you gotta bring ‘em… When hiking with the kids we love these hikes that end at a waterfall, because it gives kids something to look forward to! And if they’re little legs are still too small to manage even those easy walkways, these hikes all easily accommodate strollers. photo: Mitch Barrie via Flickr What was your favorite camp activity?
