Gyrobike Now Renting Their Famous Wheels for Kids

It’s a rite of passage for every kid: learning how to ride a two-wheeler. And with that also comes a plethora of emotions, including pride, fear, anger and frustration. And that’s just our emotions.

Let’s face it, balancing on two-wheels has never been a cinch for anyone. And now that we’re parents, we realize watching our little ones struggle is a major bummer too.

That’s why we’re huge fans of the folks at Gyrobikes, who not only made learning how to ride bike a whole lot easier for us parents, they just made it more affordable, to boot.

If you’re familiar with Gyrobike it will come as no surprise that their mind-boggling technology was developed by four Dartmouth undergrads in an engineering design class. Once you see the gyrowheel is motion, you’ll realize there’s some serious brainpower at work to make each bike stable so that when the bike senses your kid tipping to one side, the bike re-aligns itself under the rider’s weight.

Because of their sweet technology, you can kiss goodbye training wheels and get your kid confidently riding a two-wheeler in no time (in our case, 30 minutes). The biggest drawback to the Gyrobike has been the sticker shock – $99 – $120 for a wheel, or $179 for a bike,

For those moms and dads who aren’t looking to shell out the big bucks just yet for their growing tot, the company is now offering Gyrobike and Gyrowheel rentals to families in California.

For Bay Area residents, you can pick up your Gyrobike rental (or just the Gyrowheel) from their San Francisco headquarters, or, if you’re not in the area, the company will ship their famous Gyrowheels via FedEx Ground right to your door step (it fits on most kids 12″ or 16″ bike frames) . With Gyrowheels in-hand all you have to do is strap on the helmet and let the wheels take the fear out of learning how to ride a bike.

We can’t get enough of the convenience and affordability of this Gyrowheel rental option and can’t help loving that Gyrobike calls their customer support employees, “customer happiness specialists.”
