We thought last year was the year of the ice cream in Los Angeles, and nothing would ever top all the amazing new offerings available to Angeleno kids (and parents!). Well hold on to your waistbands, because if anything, this summer saw even MORE out of this world ice cream spots open up. From tacos to churros to cauliflower, discover the coolest new treats LA is scooping.

Salt & Straw

Ok, this Portland import was on our list last summer of new ice creams. So what are they doing on this summer’s list? The monthly flavors are so innovative, they have us returning again and again to see what they’ve cooked up. Like Roasted Turkey ice cream in November. Which is good! And in August, the flavors are all veggie based, so you can pretend it’s healthy. And even if it isn’t, maybe the kid's new found love of Garam Masala Cinnamon Cauliflower ice cream will translate to a love of roasted cauliflower? One can hope. But if that or the Green Fennel Maple prove too adventurous, the sweet Carrot Watermelon sorbet can convince any kid to lick their veggies. If you can’t get Mid-City each month to try the new flavors, keep your eyes open for the new spots coming soon to Venice. and the Arts District. And hopefully more…

We all scream for: While the Cauliflower is surprisingly tasty, we keep returning for the Stumptown Coffee with Compartes Lovenuts and the Chocolate Gooey Brownie. They’re divine.
