Punxsutawney Phil may have predicted an early spring, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t in for some rainy days as well. As most parents know, rainy days with young children are often a challenge. Why not embrace the less-than-stellar weather and make a fun Rainy Day Umbrella craft? This is an easy, creative craft that will distract your youngster and add a little cheer to a gloomy day.

This activity is appropriate for ages 3-6.

You will need:

*paper muffin cups in various colors

*puffy pipe stems

*a glitter pack

*glue

*cotton balls

*9″ x 12″ blue construction paper

Directions:

1. Stretch out cotton balls to make clouds. Spread glue across the top of the construction paper and attach clouds

2. Cut or fold 3 muffin cups in half to make umbrella tops and glue them to the construction paper background.

3. Curve the ends of 3 pipe stems and attach them beneath the umbrellas to make handles

4. Dab several dots of glue between the clouds and umbrellas and sprinkle glitter on the page to create raindrops.
