Here’s How to Get One from Krispy Kreme As Meghan Markle adjusts to her new royal life, the Duchess of Sussex is doing her part to help others—by way of the kitchen. Meghan Markle’s new cookbook takes the idea of comfort food to an entirely new level. Read on to see how she’s helping to give back to a community that lost so much. The cookbook, titled Together: Our Community Cookbook, includes 50 recipes created by the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen and includes a forward written by the Duchess of Sussex. The Hubb (which means “love” in Arabic) Community Kitchen started after the Grenfell tower fire. In 2017, the fire destroyed a London high-rise apartment complex, costing 72 people their lives and demolishing 151 homes, including both in the tower itself and in the surrounding area. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (@dukeandduchessofcambridge) Following the fire, some of the women who had lived in the tower needed a place to cook fresh food for their families. The Al-Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre became their new kitchen, giving them the opportunity to cook as a community. Not only did the women cook, but they also began to learn from one another. They swapped recipes, learned about each others’ cultures and built friendships. In January 2018 Markle visited the kitchen for the first time. The Duchess continued visiting the kitchen, and the women who cook there, drawing inspiration from the women, their cooking and their stories. The proceeds from the cookbook’s sales will help the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen, as well as helping to fund other similar projects, through The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
