Two For Mum: Mother’s Day Brunch & Spa Combos

Read next

It may seem like the biggest Mother’s Day cliché (next to corner deli flowers) but we’ve yet to meet an NYC mom who would be bummed about being treated to brunch on May 14th. But, in a city that’s teeming with brunch spots, it may feel impossible to pick just the right one. Not to worry. We did the taste-testing for you and, behold, our list of more than a dozen places the mom in your life will absolutely love. Bonus: We’ve paired each with a nearby spa: The ultimate Mother’s Day double feature!

For Funky Farm-to-Table: Gristmill

Head to Gristmill on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope for elevated and inventive takes on classics and artisan pizza pulled fresh from the brick oven. It’s all about seasonal, farm-to-table fresh at Chef Jake Novick-Finder’s cozy spot; much of the produce comes from the upstate farm owned and managed by his mother, with additional, small batch purveyors from the Berkshires, Quebec, and beyond supplying fresh cheeses, meats and more. (Bread products are made with grains milled to order, and all of it — from the pizza crusts, to the cornbread to the toast — is outstanding. Don’t miss the garlic knots.) Try the Loxness Knotster, the garlic knot with smoked salmon, ricotta and dill, or the French toast, with triticale bread, blueberry agrodolce, maple, bourbon. Or orderup a “basic” pie of fresh mozzarella and tomato sauce for the kids and dig into a more nuanced offering of mushroom pizza, with mozzarella, olive oil and vinegar. Out of the ordinary beer and wine selections can be found here, too. Some final tips: those wanting to dine al fresco can grab a table on the back patio, and brunch will be served all day long here on Mother’s Day, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Chill: Walk down to 5th ave to d’mai urban spa and treat yourself to the “Peaceful Journey”, a massage and rebalancing facial for $270. Gristmill 289 Fifth Ave. Park Slope (718) 499-2424 Online: </a> photo: Gristmill fuck
