Instead of eating dinner together, some families help others get something to eat on Thanksgiving. For a great family experience and a fun way to give to those in need, join the Bronx and Brooklyn editions of Cranksgiving this year. All you need is bikes, a bag, and about $15-$20, and the family can take part in this scavenger hunt/community drive. Participants must buy items from a list for families in need (like cans of food and other non-perishables), then make their way to the finish line. All items are donated to charities, local grocery stores benefit from your patronage, and you get to take a bike ride with the family. Online registration is not required: simply show up at 1 p.m. to register (both races begin at 2 p.m.).
