Have Fanny Packs Jumped the Shark? Nike’s Fanny Pack Shoes Are, Um, Interesting

Sometimes you just need a pair of ridiculous footwear and if that’s the case, then you’ll want to pick up a pair of Nike’s new fanny pack slides. Basically, they’re a purse for your feet and in some weird way, we really want them.

The classic Nike Benassi JDI slides have been around for years, but this new version has the added bonus of a fanny pack in place of the regular strap and is being hailed as “dad fashion” at it’s finest. Hypebeast is reporting the new sandals will come in black, a black/pink combo and the pictured green/blue combo.

While the fanny pack compartment is a step down from a pair of cargo shorts in terms of storage, we imagine it will carry just the right amount of keys and cash a dad might need. The Twitter user below does pose a good question, though: how does one access said cash when stored in a pair of fanny pack slides?

There has been no official release date for the classy purse sandals, and a quick search on the Nike website has demonstrated that they aren’t for sale yet. Despite not being available yet for actual wearing, Twitter fans are still trying them on for size and telling us all about it.
