Before Starbucks and iPad apps were a sign of city life, ole’ saloons and horse-drawn carriages were markers of a thriving town. Lucky for us, these historic hubs still exist and are now happening spots for lil’ cowboys and cowgirls. Looking to roll up their sleeves and pan for gold? Or watch an old fashioned shootout without the danger? Flip through our slideshow for the best Wild West Towns across the country.

Pioneertown, Ca

Built originally as a movie set for 40s and 50s films, Pioneertown is definitely a quirky spot for both movie buffs and Wild West lovers. The abandoned bowling alley, dynamite props, fake crows and set dummies make this town a bizarre but memorable visit. Despite being built as fake town, there are residents who live amongst the movie sets, so there’s plenty to do here. Their local restaurant, Pappy & Harriet's hosts frequent music shows that lil' wiggle worms would love to jiggy to.
