It’s THAT nice. We’re not talking nice like “a fancy club where you feel like you’re at a resort.” It’s that, but what really sets it apart from other clubs is the sheer variety of options under one roof. Well, more than one roof, technically, since the club is comprised of three buildings and a pool. But you know what we mean. At some places you can find tennis. Or spa services. Or kick butt strength classes. Or yoga. Or cooking classes. Or an outdoor pool. Or childcare and camps. Or conference rooms. Even a kitchen where you can take cooking classes or host a birthday party. In lots of places you can find several of these. But all of them? Doubt it! According to Alaina Jarrell, director of family programming at Stafford Hills, families have been their number one category….and it’s easy to see why!Kid Heaven We’ll start here because this is what you’re most curious about, right? They have a divine child care suite that has something for everyone. The infant room for the littlest angels is dark and quiet, with cribs for naps or a rocking chair for snuggling. Stow your stuff in the cubbies, and cheery art on the wall welcomes you to the preschool/toddler room. Their philosophy is to take a step back from tech, so you can be assured that your babes won’t be fed a diet of Disney shows. They want to let kids be kids so while there’s no curriculum, there’s a preschool’s worth of entertainment at your disposal. Blocks. Dress up clothes. Manipulatives. Art supplies. (Yes, moms, they will do art so you don’t have to. We even heard a child care helper ask a little one to take off her white sweater before she painted. Do they know moms or what?!)Just beyond is a large, airy space that invites kids to make an obstacle course, play board games or hold a LEGO building competition. They MIGHT relax the tech rule for an active game of Just Dance on date night, but for the most part the room is designed for the grade school set to go wild with their imagination. The club also offers a variety of organized kid activities — from a recent boys’ game night, which included Wii and cosmic dodge ball, to a princess pajama party and a pancake breakfast. “Date nights” allow you some time off while the kids are entertained, and summer camps are being planned.Tip: Your membership includes two free hours in the child care suite, but kids can stay up to four hours for an incremental fee. Tennis Anyone? Well this is really the piece de resistance. The club boasts seven indoor and three outdoor courts and an elevated skybox lets you watch the action from the second floor.Leagues, clinics and classes – including the crazy hard Cardio Tennis — keep your swing – and you – in shape.Come On In! The Water’s Soft! (And Warm!) The pool is awesome. It’s big. It’s heated year round. It’s outdoors. And it’s saline! Yep, no red eyes or scaly skin. They are still ordering furniture but promise there will be plenty of umbrellas. It is perfect for all ages, with a splash pad, a shallow area, a deeper area for water play and lap swimming lanes for those who are actually at the pool to exercise. Swimming lessons will be offered this summer for your aspiring Michael Phelps or Missy Franklin.Ahhhh-some Salon and SpaNot sure how to use all that childcare time? The Club’s salon and spa offers beauty treatments for hair, skin and nails, as well as massage.Worked Up An Appetite? The café offers healthy options like salads, soups and sandwiches made fresh with local ingredients, along with a selection of kid pleasers. Did we mention wine and beer? Yep, liquid refreshment of all kinds is available. And in the summer, poolside dining (and beverage!) service will be offered. Sweat Equity Oh, yeah, the “gym.” It’s easy to forget it among the other bells and whistles….but you won’t want to. No boring line of treadmills and stairclimbers here, as this is a Technogym! Besides top of the line fitness equipment, Technogym is known for its VISIOWEB, a touch screen that lets you watch the Bachelor, brag about your workout on Facebook or play Candy Crush as you feel the burn.If you’re like “some” people who slack off without Jillian Michaels screaming at them, you’ll love (or loathe) that your workout can turn into a personal training session, with your incline or pace magically accelerating, thanks to the Wellness System Key, which tracks your workouts electronically and records results – and even offers, ahem, suggestions.Got a Gen-Z-er (ages 10 to 14, for those not in the know)? They can join you too, after learning how to safely use the equipment through a special certification program that includes nutrition and wellness information. Who knows? They might even think it’s a video game as you plant that fitness seed.An ever-expanding list of group fitness classes includes yoga, Pilates, strength, cycle, TRX, Booty Barre, Zumba, and more.Ready to dive in?
