The Bay Area’s BOMB Power Moms

Trending Now

The Bay Area is home to heavy hitters of every stripe, from tech to sports to food. And it’s no surprise (to us, at least) that many of the people who make this city great are ambitious, creative, multitasking moms whose families have inspired them to aim higher and excel in their fields. We highlight a few of our favorite Bay Area Power Moms right here—click through to see them all!

Brit Morin, CEO and Founder of Brit + Co

This savvy entrepreneur launched her empire at the tender age of 25, founding Brit + Co as a digital space to help women discover their creative side and translate that into their everyday lives. Five years later, the colossal creative brand is a digital media and commerce company that produces editorial and video content, as well as online educational classes. Not to mention they put on one of the coolest crafting events of the year—the Re:Make Festival. Now in its fourth year, the festival is the ultimate family event, as crafting booths of all types fill the waterfront hall. This year’s free event (Oct. 1) drew almost 15,000 DIY devotees through the door, while their ticketed symposium on Sept. 30 included inspiring speakers such as supermodel Tyra Banks; SoulCycle CEO, Melanie Whelan; Nasty Gal’s Sophia Amoruso (the original #GIRLBOSS)… and even mega-inspirational women like Brene Brown and the CEO of the Girl Scouts. But hearing Brit’s own story was likely a highlight of the event—the 30-year-old mother of 2 under 2 is the festival’s true #MOMBOSS.

Proud Moment: “Frankly, I am proud of myself for taking a risk to leave a place like Google, the #1 best company to work for in the world, in order to tap into my savings account as I started a company all on my own. Oh, and I did it when I was only 25! It took a ton of guts and was incredibly scary, but five years later, we are more successful than ever, and I am so proud of my courage.”

Words of Wisdom: “I think it’s all about being present. When I am with my family, I try not to think about work and trust that the incredible team I’ve hired has got it covered. When I’m at work, I take comfort in the fact that my children are well taken care of and try to use my time most effectively. Though often easier said than done, I realize that I can’t be in two places at once, so I try to make the most of my time in each one.”
