What makes a day of fun out with the kids a Mom Date rather than simply another play date? The key is the one-to-one fun ratio—one awesome thing for them, one for you. And don’t forget your date! Wrangle your partner, a fellow mom or dad (Mom Dates aren’t just for the ladies, despite the name) or even kid-free friend who is down for adventure and tasty food and drink. Check out all the dreamy Mom Date ideas by clicking through the slideshow below.

Play, The Plant and The Podolls in Burlingame

For locals, Burlingame is a family-friendly home base with dozens of options for a day full of all-ages fun. For those hailing from elsewhere, it can make for an exciting day-trip complete with a double-decker train ride. If you’re coming from SF, we recommend joining the commuters on Cal Train (which picks up at 4th and King Sts. and drops off in downtown Burlingame just over 30 minutes later) so you can skip the gridlock and enjoy a glass of wine at lunch. Once in town, head to Washington Park for play. Once everyone has worked up an appetite there are an endless array of options for leisurely lunch, but a few favorites are Blue Line Pizza (sit out back!), Delfina and the Plant Café. After lunch, be sure to drop by the Podolls, a chic boutique with locally made fashions for both bigs and littles.
