Grocery Outlet is not unlike a clothing outlet in that manufacturers who need to get rid of excess inventory sell their products to them at pennies on the dollar. What this means is that you get a deep discount on whatever they happen to have in the store, which also means that you have to shop Grocery Outlet when you have the time to browse all the aisles and ferret out the deals that are of most value to you. Grocery Outlet also re-labels or re-packages products based on the manufacturer’s needs. So a name-brand item that perhaps can’t be sold due to a label glitch might be re-packaged and sold by Grocery Outlet. Basically, you never know what you’ll find. A recent visit to a Grocery Outlet yielded two four-packs of Yo Baby yogurt from Stonyfield Farm for 99 cents each. Pint-size Haagen-Dazs was $1.49. Three-pound bags of frozen local blueberries was $5.99. Quart-size Ziploc bags were $1.49 for a box of 20. A three-pound bag of Cuties mandarin oranges was $3.49. (Not to mention cheap beer for upcoming Father’s Day and summer barbecues.) What deals speak to you depends on what kind of shopper and cook you are. If you prefer brand names, you may or may not find your favorites. If you’re flexible on brand, the choices are broader. If you normally shop for produce at the farmers market, then you may not find the produce selection at Grocery Outlet to your liking. Regardless, check out Grocery Outlet, because you just may score some gems. – Hsiao-Ching Chou Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)Click to share on Copy (Opens in new window) Search more like this family friendlyfarmers marketoutletvalueproducesellbaylikemandarinredwood citysizeyogurtcheapdiscount Welcome to our Tinybeans family!
