You spent summer splashing around Stafford Park, picnicked and played at Washington Park, and ventured to the Junior Museum & Zoo at Rinconada Park. Now what? Time to check out the Peninsula’s hidden gems. They may be just around the corner from your house or a few short miles from your family’s favorite hood. Either way, these (formerly) secret spots are worth exploring!

Foothills Park

Why it’s great: It offers better views than The Dish and you won’t be surrounded by Stanford University students who immediately age you. Not to mention the kids will love it!  This place is a self-proclaimed “nature lover’s paradise” with miles of hiking trails, a lake, fishing, and every other kind of nature exploration possible. If you need a day trip excursion without the hours stuck in the car, this should definitely be a top contender.

Where: 330 Page Mill Rd., Los Altos Hills

Good to know: It’s exclusive to Palo Alto residents and their guests only.
