Tired of your go-to local park? Want to get out of your hood? Why not mix it up?! Grab your kiddos, dust off your explorers hat and hop on over to one of these hidden garden gems. We’ve rounded up the best secret gardens and parks right here in San Francisco. All you need to do is go, go go!

Mount Olympus, Ashbury Heights

Why it’s great: Get your work out on and pack in a hidden history punch. The park is small but offers fab views of the city. A stone pedestal that once held a statue gifted to the city of San Francisco by Adolph Sutro, Mount Olympus is situated just a stones throw from Muni and the popular neighborhood of Cole Valley, making it a convenient pit-stop on your way to/from other kiddo activities in the city. Where: Upper Terrace (access from 17th St. steps at Clayton). Easy Muni access: Hop off the bus or N Judah in Cole Valley and meander up the hill.
Good to Know: Wind up Upper Terrace in Ashbury Heights or get here via the 17th steps/Cole Valley. Don’t forget to check out the Ice Cream Bar, post park action, for a vintage soda fountain treat!
